When you install carpet tiles adjacent to ceramic tiles, the transition – called ceramic carpet tile juncture – could be tricky to disguise and make smooth. There are, however, ways to make it easier with a few quick and simple tricks.
With time, as the carpet tile wears out, the transition may form an unsightly gap, so both installing carpet tiles next to ceramic tiles, and repairing that ceramic carpet tiles juncture, is a good trick to learn. It will look like a professional job.
All you need to do is install a tack strip a quarter of an inch from the tile edge. Make sure that any carpet is only carpet, and that it hangs over the tack strip by only a quarter-inch. Once the gap is covered, your ceramic carpet tiles groove will be unnoticeable and very smooth and the family won’t trip on the ridgeline.
Ceramic tiles and carpet tiles complement each other well. Tiles are so easy to install yourself and carpet tiles are the easiest of all. Why deal with a huge roll of wall-to-wall carpet that requires expensive professional installation if one can do it easily oneself?
You can tile two adjacent rooms, one with carpet tiles and another with ceramic tiles, and with a well-enough constructed transition between the two surfaces, it will be a convenient and handsome contrast. You can have a mud room with easy-to-wipe ceramic tiles that leads into a carpeted living room. Together, your floors will look gorgeous and colorful and be very durable and easy to clean.
